While you were cheating on the Sudoku puzzle...

We've been traveling like crazy. Next week I'll be in (deep inhale) El Paso, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson and Albuquerque. If you're one of those people who have been calling me on this telephone contraption recently, I ask you politely to knock that off. Please write me an electronic mail. You can find my (and everyone else in the office's) email address here, and drop off your letter at the nearest internet box.

What do I love even more than being able to answer your questions at 8:30pm while watching football from my suite at the Marriott? Free stuff! You may not know it, but there's a lot of free that you can get when you visit a college admissions office. Our office will give you a free meal pass (though your parents/grandmother/personal assistant/bodyguard will have to pay us six bucks) just for stopping by, and if you call ahead in advance we can put you up in a dorm for a Thursday or Friday night (call 773 702 8650).

But, man, Amtrak has got us beat. Buy a ticket to go visit a college, and Amtrak will give you a FREE companion pass for your parent or guardian. No, seriously. Remember that train rides are significantly longer than plane flights -- I recommend you choose the parent or guardian who tells the best stories and can make shadow animals with their fingers.
