We've been traveling like crazy. Next week I'll be in (deep inhale) El Paso, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson and Albuquerque. What do I love even more than being able to answer your questions at 8:30pm while watching football from my suite at the Marriott? Free stuff! You may not know it, but there's a lot of free that you can get when you visit a college admissions office. Our office will give you a free meal pass (though your parents/grandmother/personal assistant/bodyguard will have to pay us six bucks) just for stopping by, and if you call ahead in advance we can put you up in a dorm for a Thursday or Friday night (call 773 702 8650).
But, man, Amtrak has got us beat. Buy a ticket to go visit a college, and Amtrak will give you a FREE companion pass for your parent or guardian. No, seriously. Remember that train rides are significantly longer than plane flights -- I recommend you choose the parent or guardian who tells the best stories and can make shadow animals with their fingers.
